Every year, at the end of July and till the beginning of August, Geneva transforms into an immense popular festival where all kinds of people and nationalities meet.

Festival was created in 1947 and has become famous in the whole world and is an opportunity to amuse oneself happily and cheerfully. The Festival takes place around the lake but also within different districts in Geneva, in order to satisfy fans of funfairs, techno music, carnival, rave, popular balls, folklore, humorists, cabaret singers, classical music, fashion, gastronomy etc.

There are attractions to fully satisfy all tastes and desires, with more than 160 free shows and concerts, the 'Caravan du Monde' and the 15 countries that comprise it, the culinary specialities from 32 countries, the artisans and the fun fair.

Dance under the trees in the English Garden during the Pre-Festival from July 20, take part in the 2nd slowUp with tens of thousands of cyclists, roller skaters and walkers, enjoy one of the world's largest fireworks displays set to music and thrill to the exploits of jet pilots and aerial acrobatics during the air show... even more reasons to be part of these exceptional moments this summer, from July 20 to August 13.

Switzerland not only has the highest mountains, but also the prettiest railways. If you want to combine both, then climb on board the Gornergrat Railway in Zermatt. The highest open-air rack railway in Europe climbs past Swiss stone pine and larch forests up to a height of 3089 metres. Once you reach the top you can enjoy breathtaking, all-round views of 29 peaks above 4000 metres, with the Matterhorn right in the centre. The Gornergrat is also a great starting point for some wonderful walks. In winter, there are attractive descents in the glistening snow and a beautiful, one-of-a-kind sleigh run.
